About DATA
The Douglas Area Trails Association is a non-profit corporation sponsored by Douglas County to build and maintain recreational trails. We currently maintain and groom 368 miles of snowmobile trails which includes the Central Lakes multi-season, multi-use blacktopped trail that diagonals across Douglas County from the Northwest to the Southeast.  We currently utilize our 4 Tucker Sno Cats to groom so we can maintain a twice a week schedule when snow or traffic conditions warrants it.  Our 11 person board of directors meets monthly on the second Monday of each month at the Alexandria Holiday Inn to direct operations. Meetings are open to all DATA members so drop by if you are interested or would like to help.

REMINDERS:

  1. Landowner permission to operate the DATA Trail exists only from December 1st of each year to the 30th of March.  The only permissible use is for snowmobiling!
  2. The actual opening date for trail usage depends on the local trail association's announcement that conditions are safe and there is sufficient snow cover.
  3. Please respect the property of our landowners by staying on the trail! Remember that there are no other usages allowed.
  4. Our trails are patrolled by both the Douglas County Sheriff's department and our local Conservation Officers.

Trail Sponsorship
To thank the many snowmobilers and businesses who support our efforts, we began the Sponsor-a-Trail program back in 1990. Like the Adopt-a-Highway program, special signage recognizing contributions are erected on the DATA trails each season. Contributions can be in the form of cash, merchandise or material, equipment or special services. Each sponsored mile represents a $100 contribution and the two brown and white signs are located on each side of a designated trail mile of the contributors choice (pending availability).
